Of course, there are many options in terms of accommodation in Johannesburg and feel free to explore those. For chain hotels or Airbnb options, you may want to consider the following locations around Shepstone: Rosebank, Melrose Acrh, Bedfordview, and Senderwood.
There are several ways to get to Johannesburg, but this depends on where you are coming from.
Out of Europe, all major airlines will take you to Johannesburg.
If you are travelling from within Africa the best options in terms of frequency of fights are South African Airways, Kenya Airways, Rwanda Air and Ethiopian Airlines.
If you are travelling from or connecting through the Middle East then Emirates and Qatar Airways offer frequent direct flights to Johannesburg.
Out of the US, the best option for direct flights is Delta and United for non direct flights.
Visa requirement for South Africa are as follows (however please check with your local South African embassy for up to date info):
A valid acceptable passport or travel document good for a sufficient period tocover your intended stay.
A return or onward ticket.
Yellow fever certificates are required if the journey starts or entails passing through the yellow fever belt of Africa or South America.
At least two blank pages in your passport.
